The Power of Silence in Coaching

Hello Magnificent Coaches,

In this month's K-Cast. I am interviewed by Mary Scott, who coaches business owners, executives and professionals, looking to achieve more success in their lives. Her Web site is: http://www.executivecoach-outlook.com

Mary asks me the following questions about the use of silence within coaching.

1) What happens in a session when a coach remains silent for longer than s/he normally would, allowing the client to think longer than s/he normally would? (I give a remarkable example here, of the power of silence in a coaching relationship.)

2) Do you use silence in most of your sessions? Why or why not?

3) Coaches have told me that they find it difficult or uncomfortable to be silent longer than what's typical for them. So, Mary asks these two related follow-up questions:

a) What makes silence challenging for the coach?

b) What makes silence challenging for the client?

4) What do you think the benefits of silence are in coaching?

a) for coach
b) for client

I know you'll find this K-Cast of great value; after all, the power of silence transforms lives.

Hey Karen,

I got all excited when seeing this K-Cast audio of your interview regarding SILENCE IN COACHING. However, when I followed directions of clicking the top bar to hear the audio, I heard nothing. Hmmm, (tongue-in-cheek) are you trying to make a "magnificent" point in having your coaching audience 'experience' SILENCE IN COACHING firsthand???- LOL

Hi Mo,

thanks for letting us know...I just checked the link and all seems to be working fine. Perhaps there was
a glitch earlier this morning.

Please try again.
Simply click on the title bar which
reads "The Power of Silence in Coaching".

It may take several seconds, or minutes, depending
on the connection, for the audio to load.

Also, you might want to try 'right clicking' and downloading
the mp3 to your computer.

If you still experience challenges, please do not hesitate
to let me know...I would be happy to send you a copy of the
audio.

Thanks again Mo.
Wishing you a fabulous day.

Warmly,

Kim Hamblin
